The Engineering CAD-CAM Laboratory at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE), Visakhapatnam, serves as a cornerstone for design innovation and manufacturing education. This advanced facility is dedicated to integrating computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) into the undergraduate and research curriculum.

The lab is equipped with cutting-edge software tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ANSYS, CATIA, and Mastercam, enabling students to engage in high-precision 2D and 3D modeling, stress and thermal analysis, product development, and CNC machine programming. These tools empower students to transform conceptual designs into manufacturable components, bridging the gap between theory and industry practice.

The CAD-CAM Lab at IIPE is instrumental in developing core engineering skills related to design optimization, simulation, and process planning. It supports a wide range of academic activities including laboratory sessions, design projects, B.Tech. and M.Tech. theses, and interdisciplinary research.

Aligned with IIPE’s mission to advance energy and manufacturing technologies, the lab also fosters collaborations with the oil & gas, renewable energy, and thermal systems sectors, preparing students for careers in high-tech engineering environments.
