About the Institute

The Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE), established as an Institute of National Importance under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) and located in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, envisions becoming a globally reputed and nationally recognized institute of energy. IIPE aims to be the nodal point for imparting state-of-the-art inter-disciplinary education, conducting cutting-edge research, and providing technical solutions to industries across the renewable and non-renewable energy sectors, as well as in corrosion control.

About the Department

Offering both undergraduate (B. Tech) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programs, the Department of Chemical Engineering aims to provide students with the extensive knowledge they need to be a part of the energy sector in the Indian industrial space. The courses offered are a balanced mix of traditional areas such as reaction engineering, thermodynamics, and process control, as well as emerging fields like waste management, corrosion, renewable energy, machine learning, and nanoscience. Students gain hands-on experience with various simulation software, including MATLAB, Aspen, and Fluent, and have access to laboratories equipped with the latest technology and machinery.

Course Objectives

The objective of our short-term course on “Corrosion Prevention and Remediation Strategies” is to equip participants with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills to effectively prevent and remediate corrosion. The focused curriculum covers the selection of corrosion-resistant materials, the application of protective coatings, the implementation of cathodic protection systems, and other essential techniques. By the end of the course, participants will be well-versed in the tools and strategies necessary to address and mitigate corrosion challenges.
