The objective of the programme is to prepare graduates for professional practice in industry in the field of petroleum engineering technology with emphasis on upstream activities that encompass exploration, reservoir and production. The programme intends to create technical professionals who are fit to take on engineering responsibilities across the entire value-chain in the Oil & Gas Industry a specialization that has seen growing demand in the recent years.
The programme plans to expose the students to the fundamentals of Chemical Engineering and instill innovative thinking to solve the problems related to energy, environment, etc. This programme intends to create professionals who can fit in well in a dynamic sector where they come across various technological advancements.
The goal of the program is to cultivate skilled Mechanical Engineers who possess specialized Skills and knowledge required for energy industry. The program aims to provide students with a strong foundation in basic and applied Mechanical Engineering principles while fostering innovative thinking to address energy and environmental challenges. By participating in this program, students will develop the skills necessary to thrive in a rapidly evolving field that encounters various technological advancements. Throughout the course, significant emphasis will be placed on enhancing students' abilities to tackle complex technical problems in diverse interdisciplinary contexts

The Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE) is an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Govt. of India and backed by public sector Oil and Gas giant viz. HPCL, IOCL, ONGC, GAIL, OIL whose CEOs are on the Board of IIPE. The objective of establishing IIPE is to meet the quantitative and qualitative gap and supply of skilled manpower for Petroleum Sector and to boost the research activities needed for growth of sector.
