About the CONFERENCE

Energy is the Elixir of the Modern Society and basis for the advancement of technology and civilization. Ever increasing demand for energy calls for search for new energy sources and creation of robust storage appliances. It’s the Earth materials which are either the sources of energy (Fossil and Nuclear fuels, Geothermal and White Hydrogen) or ingredients for energy storage devices (REE, Li, Ni, PGE among others). With its imposing industrial growth rate, India is at a very crucial stage and stands at the Energy crossroads, where every step in the right direction paves way for future energy independence and sustainability. Energy security and the adoption to climate change are central to the "Sustainable Development Goals" of the United Nations and the Atmanirbhar Bharat which need gigantic amounts of raw materials. In this phase of energy mix the role and responsibility of Earth Scientists is enormous. The present conference on "Earth’s Materials for Energy: Mantle to Market" is an attempt to bring the experts and young scientists under one umbrella to deliberate on evolution, exploration, extraction and economics of critical minerals needed for the Energy Sector.

About the DEPARTMENT

Established in the year 2016, the mission of the Department of Petroleum Engineering & Earth Sciences is to provide students with the education they need to become highly qualified engineers and earth scientists. The department has strong collaborations with major oil PSUs and receives substantial funding from extramural agencies. Students can choose from a variety of electives according to their interests and are provided with access to multiple laboratories fully equipped with the latest machinery and software. The students from the department are placed in many reputed national and multinational companies.
